{Your Name Here} Palooza Fest

How To Host Your Own Backyard Music Festival

Music is the universal language of mankind. As we are missing more and more music festivals, we are feeling the loss of a few of our favorite events each year. When music lovers come together to dine and dance in style. Where you see signature festival fashion, eat great street food, escape into teepees, listen to amazing music, and watch the glowing sunsets. Our event management team knows it’s important to stay home during this pandemic, so we’ve put together a list of how to host your own {Your Name Here} Palooza Fest!

Event Decor

Configure your backyard with a spread of rugs, pillows, and low tables. Set up a teepee or hammock for relaxation and shade. Get crazy with sprawling balloon displays, an instagrammable photo backdrop, and more bright colored furniture and lounges. Tassels and streamers from The Color Condition overhead amp up the festive mood of the party. Set up an amazing dance tent. Make free press posters and signs. And don’t forget disco balls in the trees with lights that sparkle at night!

You can find a lot of these types of accessories in our Celebration Party Packs! Get decor, food, and everything else you could need to throw a themed party shipped right to your door.

How to Stay Clean and Safe

On top of setting up areas to maintain social distancing, set up hand sanitation stations, or a mask decorating area. People will feel more inclined to stay safe when safety is laid out and encouraged, and when you find creative ways to make it fun!

Fun & Activities

Make your own VIP badges and send them as invitations to your closest comrades. Set up a hair braiding, face painting, a henna tattoo or glitter station. Rent a Blink Beauty specialist or our friends at Coco Coquette to fully transform you with wigs, makeup and sparkles. Get truly bohemian with a flower crown bar from Gypsy Floral. We also love a beading and dream catcher-making area, so your guests can bring the party home with them!

Food & Drink

Use an alcohol delivery company and design a signature drink, like this one from Sourced Cocktails! This drink is called the Devil’s Backbone and was inspired by musician Margo Price. The Devil’s Backbone is named for one of Margo’s favorite bars outside of Wimberley, where her name is still carved into a table to this day! The Devil’s Backbone is the perfect accompaniment to Margo’s new album.

INGREDIENTS: Milagro Tequila, fresh-squeezed lime and watermelon juice, homemade simple syrup, Hellfire Bitters, and topped with Topo Chico.

You could also have Champagne Supply Company park one of their adorable champagne carts in the shade at your party. The champagne tabs will be sure to flow all day and night.

Rent a food truck from your favorite local spot, or create a spread of all your favorite restaurants to set up your very own ‘eats’ area. You can get a taste of it all throughout the day — imagine starting with an avocado cone from Mighty Cone, moving on to Pork Belly Buns from East Side King, and ending with a cheese pie from Home Slice. Delicious!

Parkside is also offering the cutest popsicle cart, complete with boozy popsicles in flavors like strawberry mint or cantaloupe. Be careful though, the booze is strong in these treats!

Live Music

Some music festivals are hosting live streams from performers that were set to play live events before coronavirus set in. These streams can include weekend-long virtual events with performances from around the city and beyond, epic archival sets from festivals past, never-before-seen footage, and much more.

Locally, Austin Monthly started the Front Porch Sessions, which is live streaming local artists. Luck Reunion also lives streams bands from a variety of genres. It’ll have you tapping your foot all day! Many Austin artists are hosting their own dance parties, such as DJ Mel & Bird Peterson on YouTube, Twitch and Instagram.

Feeling nostalgic? How about renting your own projector to stream some of your favorite past live shows, like Beyonce’s Homecoming? Or call our event planners to help you book a local artist to come by and sing live!

While we will miss being out in the field with you, let us bring the festival to you and your guests. Call us today and we can start making arrangements to make your fest the best fest! That way you can continue to make memories. And who knows, maybe your backyard festival will become the new tradition!
